5 The Old Station Master's House - 05/09/20-12/09/20

Just a brief note following our recent return from holiday to thank you for the opportunity to stay in your lovely property in Fowey. The superb spell of weather we have recently seen just made it a perfect week, and the ideal chance to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Despite the distance from our home in West Yorkshire, in recent years we’ve been regular visitors to Cornwall, and it’s firmly one of our favourite places. Whilst we’ve visited most parts of Cornwall we’ve tended to locate ourselves on the northern coast around Padstow, but decided this time to stay in Fowey as it’s somewhere we hadn’t been previously.

We were really impressed with the views of your apartment on the website but it surpassed our expectations even further on arrival. You have a lovely property, immaculately presented, and definitely the cleanest and tidiest we have stayed in. That’s something which is even more reassuring in these strange times we are currently existing in. The building was also well-presented, and it’s somewhere we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again or recommend to others.

The apartment is ideally-located, and meant that on the days we decided to stay in and around Fowey it was a very convenient base, being just a brief walk from the centre of town. We loved Fowey, took the opportunity to get out on to the river and across to Polruan, and also spent a lot of time around Readymoney cove just soaking up the sunshine and tranquillity. We did have a trip to Padstow, and also to Healey’s Cider Farm for lunch and the chance to stock up on some cases of cider to bring home! However, the weather was so good in Fowey it seemed nicer to just relax where we were most of the time instead of numerous journeys out in the car.

We also took the opportunity to sample the food in Sam’s restaurant, Pizza Bufala, Pintxo and from Captain Hank’s, and all was superb. Not forgetting a few drinks at Havener’s and amazing ice creams from Game of Cones, which is very conveniently-located near the apartment!

As others have said, we really appreciated all the facilities of the apartment, the furnishings and the lovely additional touches. Everything was excellent and a great credit to you that you have such a lovely, well-maintained property to let out for others to enjoy.

Thanks very much once again, and no doubt we’ll return again at some point!

The Calleran’s visit to No. 5 Old Station Master’s House, Fowey (1-8 Aug 2020)

We had such a great time at No.5 Old Station Master’s House, Fowey, it’s hard to know where to start!

The apartment itself is beautifully and comfortably furnished and well equipped with everything you could need for a family of four. Our personal favourite bits were the lovely comfy beds, the fabulous power shower and the very clever rain detecting velux windows. It was just such a lovely place to come back to each day.

The dedicated parking space was also a great addition. You could just park up for the week and explore by foot, ferry, boat or kayak. There is so much to do in and around Fowey. The apartment is also well placed for visiting other parts of Cornwall. We ventured to Lands End, Bude and Mousehole. All just over an hour away. The Edan Centre is also on the doorstep.

We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending No.5 Old Station Master’s House to anyone looking to spend some time in South East Cornwall. We give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Pell Family - July 2020

An amazing apartment! It’s the attention to detail that really stood out to me. Sometimes the small things can make the difference between an ok place to stay and fabulous one!
Here are some smaller details that made it for me... (I know I’m a fussy fuss pot😂)

💙 sharp kitchen knives
💙amazing water pressure (with my mop of hair this is a serious bonus)
💙electric velux windows
💙 Dualit appliances including coffee machine
💙soft fluffy towels
💙comfy bed with lush pillows
💙cute scented pouches in all the rooms and cupboards
💙a nice cold beer in the fridge for our arrival
💙USB plug sockets
💙smart tv so we could still get our fix of Netflix 😝
💙private parking space
💙beautiful furnished with nice plump cushions on the sofa to relax on after an day at the beach.
💙lovely large red wine glasses

And as for the location it’s just outside the centre, so a nice stroll to the shops and adventure a bit further to a lovely cove. Fab rock pools for the kids and a designated area for swimmers ... that I enjoyed 🏊‍♀️.

We went to the Eden project today, only 20 mins away and it was such a lovely day.

I would highly recommend this great apartment, the whole family loves it! When I asked my daughter what she liked most, she simply said “everything “ 💖

Trina & D'Arcy - July 2020

We were so lucky to find this hidden gem of an apartment in Fowey. Clean, bright, modern and beautifully furnished, it had everything we needed (and more) for our mix of working-from-home and a truly relaxing break away.

The Apartment is amazingly bright and airy, thanks to the high ceilings and intelligent Velux windows. It’s well decked out with a great kitchen, superb bathroom with skylight (& amazing shower - hold onto your hat), super comfy beds and tastefully furnished living areas. And with all the mod-cons (WiFi, Smart TV’s etc), we easily kept connected while working from our temporary ‘home’ each day.

A short wander through the quirky, cobbled laneways of this picture-perfect little Cornish town brought us to an amazing choice of top-quality restaurants, ancient haunted pubs and its beautiful harbour. We followed all of the host’s restaurant recommendations and (across the board) the food was just outstanding. What a way to end each day 😋

Just beside the apartment is the Bodinnick Ferry and Slipway where you can go fishing or crabbing (or just watch) and hire canoes, kayaks or motor boats to explore the river that helped inspire ‘Wind in the Willows’. Directly across the river is Daphne du Maurier’s old family home ‘Ferryside’ in Bodinnick, as well as the start of the must-do ‘Hall Walk’ trail down to Polruan. ‘The Old Ferry Inn’ in Bodinnick was also great for sunset drinks with gun-barrel views down the river to Fowey and Polruan – so beautiful.

Fowey was also a great base to explore further around Cornwall – having watched ‘Poldark’ in Australia we were so excited to visit the stunning locations in the series such as the Botallack Mines, Holywell Bay, Porthgwarra, Charlestown and much more. And visit St Ives, Padstow, Truro and Land’s End. Each location was within easy reach of Fowey and gave us a real taste of the outstanding natural beauty of Cornwall.

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect or picturesque place to stay for our introduction to Cornwall – very highly recommended 🤩
